The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Obibini Blackman Company Limited, Thomas Kofi Aboagye Dompem, has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree by the Prestigious Peristrofi Word Honorary International for his immense contribution to the advancement of humanity in Ghana and beyond.

Dr Aboagye Dompem was among six other people, including the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Alhassan; Nana Akwasi Prempeh, Manhyiahene and Ernest Ofori Sarpong, CEO of Special Ice Water and Co-founder of Best Point Savings and Loans, who were conferred with the honorary doctorate degrees.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate for the 2016 elections and Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings were among previous recipients.

The colorful award ceremony took place on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the Business School of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The CEO, who got his nickname, ‘Obibini Blackman,’ from a personal conviction that the black man is capable of making strides in life if given fair and equal opportunities, is an experienced industrialist and entrepreneur.

A self-employed Ghanaian, the CEO of Obibini Blackman believes that business success is dependent on hard work, strength of mind, honesty, trustfulness and the fear of God. He has always lived up to these principles in his career.

As a son of Africa, the honoured CEO believes that regardless of the colonial and neo-colonial influences, African youth and their leaders still have the brightest chance to shine through adherence of the aforementioned principles.

His company was incorporated in 2000 as a limited liability firm with the core business of producing high quality alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for both the local and the international markets.

Beruku Ginger Gin is the company’s flagship product that has captured the market among other products such as Manstrong, Buga, Oga Coffee, Liquer, Kanawu Dry Gin, Enkosuo Gin Bitters, Blackman Dry Gin and Blackman Brandy.

Dr Aboagye Dompem, who also deals in real estate, has instituted a scholarship scheme for needy but brilliant students as a means of giving back to the society.
