Drop Your Annoying Mahama (YAM) in 2016 – Sammy Awuku

The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku says the best way for Ghanaians to solve the many problems the country is plagued with is to drop “Your Annoying Mahama” (YAM) in 2016.

The NPP man appears to have given a political twist to the now famous advertisment by Telecommunications giant – Tigo.

In that advert, a mother-in-law berated her daughter’s suitor for using an old outdated phone, directing her to drop that yam of a phone and get a new, relatively sophisticated one.

Akin to what John Mahama did to the famous MTN ‘e de bii k3k3′ advert ahead of the 2012 elections, the NPP youth leader is also feeding on the new Tigo ad to rally Ghanaians to vote against the government.

Speaking on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ the Youth Organiser said ‘Ghanaians have now become ‘visionless and directionless that is why we have to drop that Your Annoying Mahama (YAM).”

Discussing the two year tenure of President John Mahama, the NPP youth leader said the living conditions of Ghanaians have deteriorated ever since President Mahama took office.

Mr Awuku would rather assess the president for the entire six years the NDC has been in power in stead of two.

‘When President Mahama took over after the death of late President Mills, he told us that he was the luckiest Vice President because he has been doing the job for a long time and if you are being assessed then you say it is only two years.’

The opposition youth organiser also lunged at Fifi Kwetey Minister of Food and Agriculture for suggesting that John Mahama is the best thing to have happened to Ghanaians and that they [Ghanaians] should feel honoured to have him as president.

He also questioned why the age of the NPP’s flagbearer has become an issue when the relatively younger president has become a failure.

‘I would rather vote for someone who is 140 years old and will be able to provide jobs, power and put an end to corruption. The young one we voted for has done nothing.’

Mr Awuku said the Mahama-led administration has no right to ask to be retained in 2016 because it has grounded the economy to a halt.

He said he – together with his party will lead a youth revolution which will cause President Mahama to be voted out of power in 2016.

NPP will spearhead the long walk to freedom to ensure that the NDC is voted out of power in 2016, he added.
