Over 77 lucky winners of the Western Union end of- year promotion were on last Wednesday and Thursday respectively given the opportunity to shop to the tune of GH¢1,000 each at the Marina Mall in Accra.
The winners, who were allowed to shop in a minute, were seen quickly picking as many items as they could within the time duration.
Some of the items they picked include bag of rice, cooking oil, canned drinks,canned food, canned meat, detergents, and biscuits, among others.
The winners expressed joy and commended Western Union for the kind gesture, urging the Union to continue with its good initiatives.
Kankam Isaac from Kumasi told BUSINESS GUIDE that ‘I never dreamt of shopping for free at Marina Mall. But with the help of Western Union, I have been able to pick whatever product I wanted. I am very grateful to them.’
The lucky winners were selected after their coupons were picked in the second raffle draw that was held last year in Accra.
The total shopping package for 2014 amounted to GH¢140,000.
In 2011, lucky winners shopped to a total of GH¢20,000 while African print were given to 1,200 lucky winners as consolation prizes.
The total package for shopping in 2012 was GH¢32, 000.
Four lucky winners in Ghana also had the opportunity to watch the AFCON which took place in South Africa.
Last year, customers shopped to a total of GH¢50,000 and 500 hampers were awarded to 5000 lucky winners as consolation prizes.
