Ghana’s attacking midfielder, Michael Helegbe was on target in AS Tripoli 1-0 home win against Shabeb Al Ghaziye in the Alfa Lebanese Cup quarter-finals game played on Sunday.
The Ghanaian attacker was handed a starting spot together with his two Ghanaian compatriots, Emmanuel Teyehugmeh and former Hearts of Oak flank man Douglas Nkrumah.
The home-side dominated play with a lot of incursions into the final third of the away side as Helegbe and Nkrumah combinations on the flanks caused a lot of problems for the Al Ghaziye defence as they were left off the hook on countless occasions.
The away side managed to clip the flying wings of the home-side as they failed to break the defensive jaw of Al Ghaziye but Ghana’s AS Tripoli star man Michael Helegbe rediscovered his magic when the going was getting tough with a wonder strike from 40 yards in the 82nd minute of the game to earn a win for his side to set a semi-final clash with Al Ansar.
The Ghanaian trio played the full duration of the game.
