Cristiano Ronaldo is the best footballer in the world, it is official.
The Portugal captain beat off the challenge of eternal rival, Lionel Messi and German World Cup winning goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer to win the 2014 FIFA Ballon d’Or award at Monady’s well-attended ceremony in Zurich.
Ronaldo wins his 3rd world best player award after getting the illustrous accolade in 2008 and 2013, enabling the Real Madrid superstar to close within a title of record winner, Lionel Messi who remains on the four straight world player of the year trophies he won between 2009 and 2012.
