The Western Union end-of-year raffle draw has been held in Accra with Theresah Williams of the Kwesimintsim branch of Societe Generale winning the first prize of GH¢10,000.00 shopping package.

The second and third prizes of GH¢300.00 shopping packages each went to Janet Akosua Bandana of Apremdo-Takoradi and Kofi Appiah of Akim Oda branches of the bank respectively.

Irene Amanor of Ashaiman branch of Ecobank Ghana Limited and eight other lucky customers also won GH¢10,000.00 shopping packages while 25 other customers won GH¢300.00 shopping package.

Mr Gilbert Hie, Managing Director of Societe Generale, said the promotion had been one of the most successful promotions since its inception five years ago.

He said it had become an anticipated promotion due to the extra-ordinary experiences shared by customers.

Mr Hie said in 2011, winners shopped to the tune of GH¢20,000.00 while African wax prints were given to 1,200 other winners as consolation prizes.

The total package for shopping in 2012, he said, was GH¢32,000.00 while four lucky winners also won tickets to watch Ghana play in the African Cup of Nations in South Africa.

The Managing Director said last year, customers shopped to the tune of GH¢50,000.00 while 500 hampers were awarded to 500 winners as consolation prizes.

He said the total package for the 2014 promotion was GH¢140,000.00.

Mr Hie said the aim of the promotion was to give customers a choice as to what they preferred for Christmas and New Year.

He said the promotion made customers feel appreciated for making Western Union their preferred money transfer service.
