Kumasi Ready To Take New Shape And Identity—KMA Mayor


The Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Kojo Bonsu, has stated that Kumasi is set to poise off from embarrassment to embrace new developmental projects this year 2015.

The mayor added that the re-branding of Kumasi will commence soon to attract investors to create jobs in the city with a very attractive slogan “Kumasi city where Ghana happens”.

According to him, 2015 will be action year to receive packed developmental facilities to transform the city of Kumasi that will bring comfort to residents in the region.

He said, as part of these projects, the reconstruction of the Kumasi central market to ultra modern market complex will be commissioned in February this year 2015.

He reiterated that, his outfit has scheduled series of projects which also include the construction of Asawase market, Tafo market and Kejetia car park all in the metropolis.

The mayor, Kojo Bonsu was addressing the press at a media soiree organized by the KMA in Kumasi, Wednesday January 8.

The ceremony was to express appreciation to the media, who are considered to be major stakeholders in the national development of its effort in supporting the KMA over the past year and assisting KMA achieve its target in 2014.

Also in attendance was the director of KMA Nana Asiedu, the Ashanti regional president of the GJA Mr. Yesu Bukason and other seasonal radio personalities in the capital.

The mayor applauded the media for their candid support in promoting the image of the city since last year.

He called for further collaboration with the media to help accelerate the targeted projects to accomplish this year.

According to him, his outfit will engaged all MPs from both political divide in the metropolis in a meeting to discuss issues concerning the projects set by the assembly, which he said will light them more details to educate their people in the various constituencies.
