Transfer Update: Michael Essien’s future at Milan very doubtful

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien future with Italian club AC Milan is in serious doubt after the player’s agent confirmed he wasn’t sure if his client will stay at the Milan club past his current contract.

Essien’s current contract with AC Milan expires in June and agent Fabrizio Ferrari said of the Ghanaian’s future to Italianfootballdaily.com:

‘This is a very good question. I don’t know what will happen, but I believe he will not renew with Milan. Essien is happy at Milan, he can remain but it is doubtful. It’s a bit early to predict what will happen in June.

‘Milan is a prestigious club which is difficult to get into, but also difficult for a player to want to leave it.’

Micheal Essien joined AC Milan from English Premier League side Chelsea.

Manchester United transfer target Kevin Strootman has quashed rumours linking him with a move to the English Premier League. Louis van Gaal wanted to sign the Dutch international after joining the Old Trafford club last summer but missed out.

Strootman has however spoken about the rumours telling Sky Italia:

‘I signed for five years here.
‘I’ve only played for six or seven months [due to injury]. I want to play, help the team, this is important to me.’

Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has officially signed for English Premier League club Manchester United.

The player said after his move to the Old Trafford club:

‘It is a real honour to sign for Manchester United.

‘I would like to thank Louis van Gaal and the club for allowing me to do my rehabilitation and to train with the team at the Aon Training Complex.

‘From my short time here I can already see this is a very special club.

‘I worked with Louis van Gaal during my time at FC Barcelona and to have the opportunity to work with him here at Manchester United is a dream come true.’

AS Roma are willing to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech and are keen on completing the deal in the current transfer window despite manager Jose Mourinho insisting there no chance the Czech international will be sold.

Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri has rejected Liverpool for Inter Milan after the Italian club confirmed an agreement with German Champions Baryern Munich for the player. The deal is set to be completed soon with paperwork to be signed.

Manchester United have sold England under-21 international defender Michael Keane to Burnley.
