New deal: Abeiku Ainooson extends Kotoko stay

Abeiku Ainooson has extended his contract with Kumasi Asante Kotoko  to end speculation over his future by agreeing a new deal.

The 24-year-old signed a 2-year contract with Kotoko in 2013 from New Edubiase and with some few months left in his contract, he has extended his stay by one year.

‘I have signed a one-year contract extension with Kotoko this morning (Thursday), hence will be available to help the course of the team.

‘Kotoko is a club which is on my heart, so I want to pay my dues to the club to make the supporters happy and that is the more I decided to sign a new contract,’ Ainooson told Metro fm.

The CHAN star also indicated that he would seek greener pastures overseas in the near future.

‘I am now a Kotoko player, but I think that if good offers come my way in the near future, I would consider them so that they can also benefit financially from my services,’ Abeiku Ainooson added.

Abeiku Ainooson had a brilliant season with Kotoko and was ultimately voted as the FA Cup Player of the Year cum Defender of the Year and also won the Ghana Premier League Defender of the Year in the 2013/14 season.

Ainooson was part of the local Black Stars team that finished runners-up in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in 2014 and was voted as part of the team of the tournament.
