Godfred’s AFCON Diary -Entry 5

Grant shared my thoughts on Inkoom
When Avram Grant picked his provisional AFCON squad a month ago I wrote an opinion piece warning the new Ghana coach about Samuel Inkoom. Too bad the Houston Dynamo defender had to go and prove me right as he failed to impress a man who already had a soft spot for him. Inkoom’s time as a quality defender is long gone and the experience argument is moot when there is no form to go with it. Enjoy your American dream my man.

Kwesi Appiah’s dream lives on
What a lovely couple of months for Kwesi Appiah. Not the former Ghana coach. I mean the new Black Stars striker who just a couple of months ago was living in obscurity until he started making daily headlines for scoring goals in League Two of English football which actually is the fourth tier of that league.I always wondered how he made more more headlines than established stars in higher division. Look at him today.A full blown Ghana international with a goal to his name and headed to the biggest football tournament in this part of the world. Dreams can really come true if you know the right people.

Daniel Amartey to start ahead of Boye is my post Christmas wish

Now that his place has been verified in the team can I go further and hope the Copenhagen defender starts alongside Jonathan Mensah? It will not be too much to ask for since he is a far better ball playing defender than Boye who is on a skid at the moment. I am frankly tired of watching a defender who thinks he is a mixture of Nesta and Cannavaro in one and yet plays like a faux version in reality. Amartey along side Jonathan Mensah come January 19 is my new wet dream.
