FIFA agent Oliver Arthur partners Baptist Church for COMMUNITY FOOTBALL

Fifa player agent Oliver Arthur is partnering Dansoman Baptist Church in the Dansoman community to unearth football talent and also use the beautiful game as an evangelical tool to plant a new church in the Nsakina Township.

The one-day gala competition will feature four communities in the Nsakina area of Accra including Oduman and Oshiman.

The main objective of the football gala is to plant a new church in the Nsakina community.

“We want to use the beautiful game to draw people to Christ” said Pastor Alfred Adjattor, the Head Pastor of the Dansoman Baptist Church.

“We have seen many young people in this community who deserve to have opportunities to live their dreams. As a church, winning souls is important to us but the physical wellbeing of our members or potential members is also of prime import.

“Football is an activity sport that brings out the best in people and the Bible is also a spiritual book that gives eternal life and assurance for the future. Hence the mix of the two we believe will serve these communities well.”

Arthur, a member of the  Dansoman Baptist Church said: “For me as a football agent, my job is to discover and manage players. I already have some big players under my agency including Richmond Boakye Yiadom (Atalanta, Italy) and Afriyie Acquah (Parma, Italy). These players came from very humble beginnings but by the Grace of God, they are doing incredible things in their career. Nobody knows who or what we will find here. I am lending my support because it is first the work of God and also because football can change people’s lives. I am expecting a tough competition full of talented players.”

On hand to scout and help the teams with technical direction is former Asante Kotoko coach Isaac Opeele Boateng who believes the participating communities will enjoy a day of brilliant football.

“The winning teams will get a set of Italian jerseys and cash prizes for the winner and runner up as well as trophies. This will motivate the players to give off their very best. So there is plenty to look forward to, ” concluded Boateng.

The games scheduled for the Nsakina Park will start at 2pm on Saturday, January 10, 2015.
