Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Samuel Sarpong, has appealed to all Ghanaians to be concerned about the health of Ghana police and security personnel be their concern utmost important to all well meaning Ghanaians.
The regional minister made this call during the sod cutting ceremony for the construction of a regional police clinic today at the Police Depot in Kumasi.
He reiterated the fact that the police played a critical role in the maintenance of law and order in the country.
“The maintenance of law and order will allow people to go about the socio- economic development of our Metropolis and the region in general,” he observed.
According to him, the construction of the clinic is a step in the right direction in our quest to provide quality health care to the police personnel and their families.
This, he said, will help them carry out their operations effectively and efficiently and with peace of mind that their health and that of their families would be catered adequately for.
He commended the regional police Commander DCOP, Nathan Kofi Boakye, for his vision and foresight which has paved way for the start of the project.
He also commended both private and individual and organizations who have contributed in raising funds to start the Police Clinic in Kumasi.
He called on other private and corporate organizations to emulate these examples to help government improve the conditions of the police and bringing meaning to the importance of public private partnership.
“Government as we all know, cannot do it all alone, that is why the cooperation with other individuals and organizations is very vital.”
