Nana Appiah Ampam Frimpong II, the chief of Foase in the Atwima Kwawonma constituency of the Ashanti region has advised the youth in his community to stop smoking and excessive drinking and concentrate on their education.

He said his kingship and the elders will not sit to encourage such behavior that hinders development in the community.

“I will not sit down and look on for this unacceptable behavior to takeover this town. I will put my feet down and ensure that we ban this practice,” he assured.

Smoking is gradually becoming a habit among the youth in the Foase community in recent times.

“This act is a disgrace to us as a community and does not promote development in anyway”. I would like to also advise the youth to focus on education since that will secure them a brighter future,” he said.

Nana Appiah made these remarks at the “wukudae” festival held at Foase, the district capital of Atwima kwawonma.

He also urged parents and guardians in the community to keep eagle eyes on their wards to keep them from going wayward.

Nana Appiah Ampam further advised parents to stop spending their monies on funeral clothing and fashion and then channel these funds into the education of their children.

According to him, the best property ever, any parent could leave for their wards was nothing but quality education, thus he said no one will take it out from them.

At the ceremony, Nana as part of his social responsibility dined with the needy and vulnerable in the community.

He also distributed over 500 fowls, clothing and bags of rice to the widows, needy and orphans under his jurisdiction.
