Fatau Dauda is delighted with the high level of competition for the regular first choice goalkeeping role within the Black Stars team ahead of the 2015 AFCON.

The 29-year-old is in competition with Razak Brimah and Ernest Sowah for a starting place.

Dauda was Ghana’s safest pair of hands in the last Nations Cup staged in South Africa.

His move to Orlando Pirates after excelling at the 2013 AFCON however proved counterproductive to his career.

Limited first team opportunities at Pirates cost Dauda his first choice position in the Black Stars during the qualifiers.

However a return to former club AshantiGold has seen him regain his confidence and his physical edge.

Dauda who is now fighting to regain his regular position with the Black Stars is impressed with the level of competition he is facing and believes it will drive the team to success in Equatorial Guinea.

“Everyone is ready,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.
“We have it in our minds that we want to work hard as a team and win the trophy.

“The training has been intense and very competitive as well.”

The Ghana team is currently in Spain to finalize preparations for the tournament that commences on January 15.

The Black Stars are drawn in a tough group alongside Senegal, Algeria and South Africa.
