Enormous hurdle: Grant has a big task ahead of him – Tony Baffoe

Ex Black Stars defender, Tony Baffoe says, the head coach of the Black Stars, Avram Grant has a big task ahead of him as the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea is looming.

According to Tony Baffoe the Ex Chelsea boss has to create a team spirit rather than superstars.

‘It is very important to create team spirit because a good team spirit supersedes superstars, let us think about [our performance in] Angola 2010; the reason is some of the players that won the U-20 World Cup in 2009 were in the Angola 2010 team and the nature of man-managerial skills off the pitch is key for the progress of the team,” he noted.

‘A lot of things have happened to the team but they (Black Stars) fought very hard to qualify for the 2015 AFCON and now there is a new coach in the person of Avram Grant and he is a “funny” guy because his name is “Grant” but he has a big task ahead of him,” he added.

Grant was appointed last December after the departure of Kwasi Appiah. He has been tasked by the Ghana Football Association to “do well” at the 2015 AFCON tourney and possibly win the 2017 AFCON.

Ghana have been paired in Group C alongside South Africa, Senegal and Algeria and the four(4) time Africa champions will open their 2015 AFCON campaign against Senegal on the 19th January, 2014.
