Ghana goalkeeper Stephen Adams is gutted that he has been dropped from the squad to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations but he is backing the Black Stars for title success at the tournament in Equatorial Guinea this month.
The Aduana Stars shot stopper has accepted coach Avram Grant’s decision to leave him out of the squad for the competition which starts on 17 Janaury.
Adams was excluded from the 26-man squad for the Black Stars training camp in Equatorial Guinea after being included in the provisional 31-man list.
Coach Grant opted for Spain-based Razak Brimah, Ernest Sowah who plays for DR Congo side Don Bosco and AshGold goalkeeper Fatau Dauda as his glovesmen for the tournament.
Despite his disappointment of being left out of the squad, Adams says he accepts the decision of the coach in good faith.
“Nobody will be happy if you are dropped from national team call-ups. I am sad but that is the decision of the coach and I have to accept it in good faith,” Adams said.
“He is our coach and we must respect his decisions, for now I am not part of the team and so all that I can do is to wish them all the best and hope that things go on well as planned by the team.
Adams is keen on fighting his way back into the Black Stars squad for future competitions.
“All that I have to do is to work harder and get back into the team to help my country,” Adams said.
Ghana will face Senegal, Algeria and South Africa in a tough Africa Cup of Nations group.
