Sametro Group of Companies, in its quest to help put smiles on the faces of the underprivileged in the society, during the Christmas festivities presented rice and cooking oil worth over GH¢25,000 to a cross-section of widows in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem municipality of the Western Region.

Each of the widows received a 50kilogram bag of rice and bottles of cooking oil.

Presenting the items, the Operations Sales Manager of Sametro Group, Emmanuel Owodoo Kwaansah, said widows, especially those in the rural areas with no family support, were often abandoned and neglected, and therefore struggled to fend for themselves.

“This situation gets worse particularly during festive occasions such as Christmas and New Year, as they are unable to partake in the feasting,” he added.

It is to change this trend and make such unfortunate widows feel part of the celebration that the company extended a hand of friendship to them.

He explained that the owner and CEO of the Group, Samuel Etroo, deemed the gesture as a social obligation to give back to the society.

He made a passionate appeal to all successful individuals to make it a point to support the have-nots.

The obviously ecstatic beneficiaries showered praises on the donor and prayed for God’s blessing on him.

They indicated that for the past four years festive occasions such as Christmas and New Year’s Day had been nightmares as some of them yearned for help in vain.

They therefore indicated that the gesture of Mr Etroo was God’s answer to their plight.
