Ready to die for GHANA: We are mentally ready for the AFCON – Asamoah Gyan

Ghana’s skipper, Asamoah Gyan has hinted that the Black Stars of Ghana are mentally ready for the 2015 AFCON tourney to be staged by Equatorial Guinea.

The Black Stars will be looking forward to put an end to their 33 years AFCON trophy drought when the tournament kicks start on the 17th January 2015.

The Al Ain hit-man speaking to reporters after the Black Stars training session at the Carl-Reindorf Park in Dansoman said the Black Stars are mentally ready for this month’s AFCON championship.

‘Mentally we are in the AFCON championship because expectations in Ghana are very high and we aim to qualify from the group and think of winning the trophy because it has been our worry in previous years as everybody is expecting Ghana to win the trophy and it is quite a long time since Ghana won the tournament,” he said.

Gyan further stressed that the Black Stars have an all round team and any player that gets the chance to play will give out his maximum best.

‘We have an all round team and any player that gets the chance to play will give out his maximum best for the team and the only magic that can propel us to win the championship is to be mentally fit for the championship.”

The Black Stars will be camping in Seville for ten (10) days before travelling to Equatorial Guinea on January 14.
