The trial of hiplife artiste Emmanuel Botwe popularly known as Kwaw Kese is expected to begin today, Monday January 5, 2015.
His lawyer, Nana Kwesi Buetey confirmed this to Citi News. At the last hearing, the Kumasi Circuit Court presided over by Judge William Boampong granted him bail on health grounds.
The rapper is standing trial for allegedly smoking publicly, a substance suspected to be Indian hemp.
He was arrested by the Police in Kumasi on November 22, 2014. Kwaw Kese had been shuffled between jail and the hospital since his arrest and pleaded with the judge to grant him bail after the incident.
He has since pleaded not guilty in the matter even though the prosecution said in one of the court appearances that medical tests on the musician have revealed he had smoked the substance.
Meanwhile, Kwaw Kese has started a campaign against the use of illicit drugs, warning the youth against using such dangerous drugs.
