Blow: Belkalem ruled out of AFCON for Algeria

Trabzonspor defender Essaid Belkalem will miss the 2015 African Cup of Nations after picking up an injury during the 4-1 loss against EskiÅŸehirspor.

The Algerian international aggravated a hamstring injury against  EsEs and underwent an MRI scan which revealed a muscle tear.

He will be out for close to a month for both club and country, which will see him miss the tournament in Equitorial Guinea.

Algeria will kick off their 2015 AFCON campaign in against South Africa in Mongomo on January 19, before facing the Black Stars and then Senegal.

Belkalem joins Medhi Abeid who will also miss the AFCON after being sidelined with an injury.
