Avram Grant satisfied with ‘battle-ready’ work ethic of Black Stars after two-day training in Accra for Nations Cup

Ghana coach Avram Grant has lauded the mentality of his players after presiding over two training sessions in Accra before departing a pre-tournament camping in Seville, Spain.

The former Chelsea manager supervised his first workout at the Liberty Professionals stadium in Dansoman on Saturday afternoon and then followed it up the next day at the Lizzy Sports Complex in the morning.

Grant expressed satisfaction with the body language of his players less than two weeks to the start of the tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

“For the moment I must say the attitude is good. The players look very exciting. There is the passion to do well for the country which like I told you in the press conference will be one of the criteria I would stand about it,” the Israeli trainer said before the team’s departure.

Grant has two days to continue preparations in Spain before naming his final 23-man squad where three players would be dropped.

The Black Stars will leave Seville on 14 January and land at the Equatoguinean base of Mongomo the following day.

Ghana will begin their Nations Cup campaign against Senegal on 19 January before playing Algeria’s Les Fennecs four days later.

Their final Group C match will be against South Africa at the Mongomo Stadium.
