Newly invited Ghana striker, Kwesi Appiah, is delighted about his invitation to join the Black Stars for their training camp in Spain ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 24-year-old, who was handed his maiden Ghana call-up last week, was expected to arrive at the Kotoko International Airport (KIA) at 8pm last night to join the Black Stars for the first time.

The England-based striker took off from the Heathrow Airport in London via British Airways and posted a picture of himself indicating his delight at the chance to play for his country.

“Finally at the airport. Soon touch down Ghana!!! Excited at the opportunity to represent my country,” the striker wrote.

Appiah has declared himself fit to join the Black Stars for their training camp after suffering an injury setback in a league match for his club last weekend. The striker came off with a knock at half-time of Cambridge United’s 1-0 defeat to Southend United in League Two on Boxing Day.

The injury created doubt that Appiah could be ruled out of the tournament to be held in Equatorial Guinea next month.

But the England-based striker stayed fully fit to start training with the Black Stars ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations from next week.

Appiah, who plays in the fourth-tier of English football, was a surprise inclusion in Ghana’s provisional 31-man squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
