Following consultation with the Ghanaian government, the Mo Ibrahim Foundation announces the postponement of the annual Governance Weekend, due to take place in Accra 21-23 November 2014.<\/strong><\/p>\n The Ebola outbreak in the West African region over the past five months has led the Ghanaian government, in line with the ECOWAS Commission guidelines, to ask for a moratorium on all non-essential meetings and international conferences in Ghana.<\/p>\n It is critical that all efforts should be focused on dealing with this situation without any distraction.<\/p>\n The Foundation event includes various conferences and parallel meetings held by civil society and business groups, as well as public gatherings such as a public concert and a major football match. Considering the health risk involved, however minimal, it would be irresponsible of us to proceed.<\/p>\n Our Annual Event will be rescheduled in Accra early 2015.
