{"id":203228,"date":"2014-07-11T17:00:48","date_gmt":"2014-07-11T17:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/ayariga-vows-to-redeem-ghanas-football-image\/"},"modified":"2014-07-11T17:00:48","modified_gmt":"2014-07-11T17:00:48","slug":"ayariga-vows-to-redeem-ghanas-football-image","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2014\/07\/11\/ayariga-vows-to-redeem-ghanas-football-image\/","title":{"rendered":"Ayariga Vows To Redeem Ghana&#8217;s Football Image"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.ghanamma.com\/uploads\/2014\/07\/e507742740213_864900.jpg\" border=\"1\" style=\"border:1px solid #999; padding:1px; margin-top:2px;\" \/><span class=\"peace_content_text_1\">Youth and Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga has vowed to redeem Ghana&#8217;s football image following an embarrassing exit from the 2014 World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing a team of eminent football administrators and personalities the minister said he is &#8220;committed to redeeming the image of football in the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am also committed to developing the quality of football in Ghana,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>60 eminent football administrators, including Abedi Pele, Stephen Appiah, Randy Abbey, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe, Akua Sena Dansua and Mr Rashid Pelpuo were named by the Sports Minister to review Ghana&#8217;s football and make recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>The Administrators met Friday in what was the beginning of a two-day seminar in Accra.<\/p>\n<p>The review has also become necessary following Ghana&#8217;s first round exit from the 2014 World Cup which saw the West African country amassing just one point out of a possible nine.<\/p>\n<p>The disappointing exit was also characterised with reports of player indiscipline and an embarrassing airlifting of $3million from Ghana to Brazil to pay appearance fees of disgruntled players.<\/p>\n<p>The incident made Ghana the subject of global ridicule.<\/p>\n<p>A three-member committee has been constituted by government to look into the circumstances surrounding Ghana&#8217;s shameful exit and make recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>But the minister is convinced the 60 eminent football administrators would provide the appropriate recommendations to fix Ghana&#8217;s football.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to assertion that government is subtly attempting to interfere in Ghana&#8217;s football, the FA spokesperson Ibrahim Saani Daara told Myjoyonline.com the seminar is in collaboration with the Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>He said the FA is happy to be part of the seminar geared to improving Ghana football.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Youth and Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga has vowed to redeem Ghana&#8217;s football image following an embarrassing exit from&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-203228","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2014\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/203228","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2014\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2014\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2014\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=203228"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2014\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/203228\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2014\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=203228"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2014\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=203228"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2014\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=203228"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
