{"id":195108,"date":"2014-06-10T16:34:00","date_gmt":"2014-06-10T16:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/french-govt-supports-atonsu-project\/"},"modified":"2014-06-10T16:34:00","modified_gmt":"2014-06-10T16:34:00","slug":"french-govt-supports-atonsu-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2014\/06\/10\/french-govt-supports-atonsu-project\/","title":{"rendered":"French Gov&#8217;t Supports Atonsu Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div id=\"newsimage\">&#13;<\/p>\n<div>&#13;<\/p>\n<div class=\"mgsImg\"> <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The Susan River at Kaase which was dredged by the KMA recently\" src=\"http:\/\/img.ghanamma.com\/uploads\/2014\/06\/a47c240x_mg_y16gwj3vvq_atonsu.jpg\" onclick=\"javascript:window.location='\/GhanaHome\/image_preview.asp?which=1&amp;menu_id=1&amp;id=NTQ4MDMw';\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"0\" vspace=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"mgscap\">&#13;<\/p>\n<div class=\"mgscapTxt\">The Susan River at Kaase which was dredged by the KMA recently<\/div>\n<p>&#13;\n    <\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n    &#13;\n  <\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n  &#13;\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"bodytext\">\n<p>The Susan River at Kaase which was dredged by the KMA recently<\/p>\n<p>THE FRENCH government has pledged a whopping 38 million Euros to support the construction of the Atonsu road in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n<p>The dual carriage road project, which would start at the Coca Cola area at Ahinsan to Sewia, would stop the perennial vehicular traffic.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the project, the drainage system of the Susan River would be worked on to stop flooding when it rains.<\/p>\n<p>Kojo Bonsu, the Kumasi Mayor, who made the announcement, said the necessary documents were being prepared for the commencement of the project.<\/p>\n<p>He made this disclosure when he visited Atonsu on Saturday to determine the extent of damage that occurred when the place was flooded the previous day.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, the two-day continuous rainfall did not cause any major problems at the area this time around.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Kojo Bonsu expressed delight that the people did not suffer any major challenges during the Thursday and the Friday downpours.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the place was not flooded because the KMA had done a three-kilometer dredging of the Susan River.<\/p>\n<p>The Kumasi Mayor admonished the people not to dump litter into river bodies and unapproved sites for refuse dump to ensure a free flow of streams so as to avert flooding.<\/p>\n<p>The tour saw Kojo Bonsu visiting almost all the flood prone areas in Kumasi to inspect work being done at those places.<\/p>\n<p>They were the Susan River at Susanso, Ahomaso, Airport Roundabout, among a host of other areas.<\/p>\n<p>The KMA had started the dredging of all the aforementioned rivers with the sole aim of preventing flooding.<\/p>\n<p>FROM I.F.
