African giants Cameroon on Sunday evening held Ghana’s Group G opponent Germany to an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Stadion im Borussia-Park in M\u00f6nchengladbach (Germany) in a pre-World Cup friendly.<\/p>\n
A game which saw fascinating action in the final 30 minutes after some dreary moments in the early stages of the game.<\/p>\n
Both coaches named a very strong squad ahead of the game. German head coach Joachim L\u00f6w\u00a0named a squad that included the likes Thomas M\u00fcller, Mesut \u00d6zil, J\u00e9r\u00f4me Boateng\u00a0and Mario G\u00f6tze\u00a0in his starting lineup. The Germans, however missed the services of their number one goalkeeper Manuel Nueur as well as their captain Philipp Lahm due to injury.<\/p>\n
Cameroonian German coach Volker Finke on the other hand fielded his best team which included skipper Samuel Eto’o, Alex Song, Nicolas N’Koulou, Jo\u00ebl\u00a0Matip and Stephane Mbia.<\/p>\n
It took 62 minutes for Cameroon captain Samuel Eto’o to break the deadlock with a perfect strike from the inside of his boots. The Germans quickly responded 4 minutes later when Thomas M\u00fcller\u00a0headed in the equalizer to bring the European giants into the game.<\/p>\n
The 2010 semi-finalist at the World Cup, however shot themselves in front in the 71st minute when substitute Andre Sch\u00fcrrle\u00a0scored from a perfect pass by Lukas Podolski.<\/p>\n
Cameroon showed great resilience as they pushed forward for the equalizer and were rewarded after German-born Eric Maxim\u00a0Choupo-Moting\u00a0scored in the 78th minute to help the African side earn a draw against their European counterparts.<\/p>\n
Ghana faces Germany in their second group game on June 21 in Fortaleza. <\/p>\n
