President John Mahama has begun a-three-day working visit in the Ashanti Region, where he is scheduled to inspect among others, work on the runway project at the Kumasi Airport.<\/p>\n

The President will also visit a shoe factory, which was recently revamped as part of efforts by government to resuscitate defunct factories.<\/p>\n

It has been a long-cherished hope of some Ghanaians to see the resurgence of the once famous Kumasi Shoe Factory materialized.<\/p>\n

Formerly called the Ghana Industrial Holding (GIHOC) Footwear Company Limited, the now Defence Industries Holding Company Limited (DIHOC) shoe factory aims at generating employment in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cNext year, we are hoping that the factory will be able to employ about 500 people\u201d, Senior Communications Advisor and Presidential spokesperson, Ben Dostei Malor\u00a0explained.<\/p>\n

Mr. Malor, who addressed journalists at the daily media briefing in Accra, Friday, also revealed that \u201cthe President is also scheduled to visit the Akate Farms Complex\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Akate Farms Complex is one of the largest poultry farms in Ghana.<\/p>\n

Mr. Malor therefore stressed the President’s resolve to see work on development projects in the region progress faster \u201cto make the life of Ghanaians better\u201d.<\/p>\n
