School children in the Babim-surugu community near Nakpanduri in the Northern region have been forced to abandon classes for fear of their lives. This comes after a 42 year old man was killed and his body mutilated by gunmen on his farm on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The deceased, Sagark Danaaba, and his wife were farming when the men attacked them and opened fire on him.<\/p>\n
His wife escaped unhurt but he died instantly.
The gunmen then chopped off one of his hands and his genitals, and cut his head into two.<\/p>\n
Police in the Northern Region have confirmed the incident to JOY NEWS and have begun investigateons.<\/p>\n
Wife of the deceased, Azimi Danaaba tells JOY NEWS she is traumatized by the incident and is demanding justice.<\/p>\n
Speaking through an interpreter, Azimi said they were in the farm with other neigbouring farmers when they heard dogs barking.<\/p>\n
She suddenly heard shouts and people started running helter-skelter when the attackers opened fire on them.<\/p>\n
Both she and the late husband tried to escape through different directions but the husband could not make it to safety.<\/p>\n
Azimi said she personally know two of the five attackers and was prepared to helpt the police identify them.<\/p>\n
She called on the state to help get justice for the late husband, as she feared the group might launch further attacks if they are not apprehended.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, residents who had fled from Kpemale to Babim-surugu in March 2013 because of the conflict there, say they want an end to the violence to enable them live normal lives.<\/p>\n
A man who wants to remain anonymous tells JOY NEWS children have been asked to stay away from school for their safety.<\/p>\n
He said even though the police assured them that their safety would be guaranteed, latest developments in the area suggest otherwise, leaving them in doubt.<\/p>\n
Although the police acknowledged the need to erect security post there, nothing has been done.<\/p>\n
