Let\u2019s face it: despite all of the advances toward gender equality, many people still expect different things from men and women. \u00a0 Here are five things society looks down on women for:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Having \u201ctoo many\u201d\u00a0s*xual partners.<\/strong>\u00a0While no-one\u2019s \u201cnumber\u201d should matter, the\u00a0s*xual double standard\u00a0is alive and well. Men who sleep around are \u201cstuds,\u201d but women who do the same are \u201csluts.\u201d What\u2019s more, a disturbing study found that women labelled\u201dpromiscuous\u201d\u00a0were rejected by their male\u00a0<em>and<\/em>\u00a0female peers, which is all kinds of messed up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Having a\u00a0messy home.<\/strong>\u00a0Though an estimated 81 percent of men and 87 percent of women report feeling\u00a0anxious about home upkeep, women still do the\u00a0majority of the housework. Why? Because women are\u00a0judged much more harshly\u00a0than men for having a messy home.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Being\u00a0overweight.\u00a0<\/strong>Though both men and women experience\u00a0fat prejudice, studies have found that overweight women feel more\u00a0societal pressure to lose weight\u00a0than overweight men.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Being\u00a0blunt or assertive.<\/strong>\u00a0A woman who speaks her mind too much is deemed\u00a0bossy,\u00a0aggressive\u00a0or\u00a0arrogant\u00a0\u2013 whereas a mouthy dude is simply showcasing his executive leadership skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.\u00a0Not having children.<\/strong>\u00a0Childfree women\u00a0are often referred to as \u201cselfish\u201d and told they will regret their decision not to have kids. Because what kind of\u00a0unnatural woman\u00a0would never want to be a mother? Men get no such flak \u2014 being a dad isn\u2019t considered to be an essential part of manhood.
