Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Davido join Tigo usher in Deezer with mammoth concert


Over 20,000 teeming patrons stormed the Accra Sports Stadium Friday to witness top-notch performances from Ghanaian and Nigerian music acts as telecom company Tigo launched its Deezer music service.

The music service gives subscribers access to an unlimited music through a mobile application on their phones.

The concert, Tigo Music Unplugged, will in itself go down as one of the biggest ever staged in the country. A fourth of the seats in the stadium and parts of the pitch were filled with thousands of music lovers who partied the night away.

The concert officially kicked off around 9pm and after some sexy dancers warmed up the stage, underground female rapper Ohemaa emerged on stage to dish out some heavy bouts of freestyles.

An impressive collaboration between Africa’s number one DJ, DJ Black and Nii Ayi Tagoe got the fans asking for more; it was an opener patrons needed to put them in the mood for a music-filled night.

After that exciting back and forth, controversial artiste, Akoo Nana emerged on stage. The Wash and Wear singer did not come alone, he came with controversy.

Backed by three bare-breasted dancers, the musician charmed the elated audience.

4×4’s performance transitioned from the old to the new. Being one of the most successful music groups in the country, they dished out an exciting list of their well-known tunes including Hot Girl Dot Com, Sekele tele, Fresh One, Waist and Power, and their smash hit Baby Dance which features Nigerian sensation Davido.

Guru also took his turn and yes he delivered. He thrilled with some of his smash hits including Democracy, Lapaz Toyota, Bonsam Ani, and Pooley.

Nigeria’s Davido burst onto the stage with such unmatched energy, demonstrating that versatility which has made him the hottest act in Africa.

Performing a long list of smash hits which includes, Dami Duro, Gobe, Skelewu and the evergreen Aye, Davido wowed every patron in attendance.

The next act on the bill, the young, bubbly and beautiful MzVee with a sweet voice, proved why she is so loved. The young dancehall act put the over 20,000 patrons under a spell, she charmed them with her voice.

She wowed everyone with an exciting repertoire of her composition and of some female Ghana musicians. Backed by an impressive show of what her mama gave her, MvVee wowed with Natural Girl, Dancehall Queen, and Borkor Borkor.

Black Entertainment Television (BET) award winner Sarkodie held patrons in suspense for several minutes before bursting onto the stage. During that painful wait, organizers were busy putting the stage in shape for Sarkodie but the wait was worth every second of it.

Sarkodie’s entry was a master-class. Dressed in dark grey sleeveless top and black trouser to match, Sarkodie burst onto the stage with such great swag. Dancers dressed in white, demonstrated through their choreography that the rapper is indeed an undisputed king.

And when he started, the foundations of the stadium shook. Fans basically shared the performance with him. They rapped along every song he performed including Dangerous, Shots On Shots, Baby, Adonai (remix), Chingam, Pon Di Ting, and Borga.

His exit from the stage brought an act fans had been waiting for – Shatta Wale. Shatta Wale came on stage tied in chains wearing an ash overall with the inscription ‘Free SM’ written behind it.

Fans went gaga when he appeared on stage. Without wasting time, Shatt Wale, who had some men dressed in military uniforms standing behind him, got down to business dishing out his tunes to the delight of patrons who sang along as if the night had just started for them.

He wowed patrons with every song he performed. On his track list included Party All Nite, Shatta City, Enter the Net, We Spoil Der, You Can’t Touch Me, Wine Ya Waist, and Everybody Likes My Thing.

The stadium was virtually turned upside down when Sarkodie joined Shatta Wale to perform ‘M3gye Wo Girl’ and ‘Dancehall Commando’.
