Ghanaian contemporary highlife star, Kwabena Kwabena, has disclosed that he is optimistic his annual charity event will impact on more lives this year, than it did last year.

He announced that this year, he would be hosting another musical concert to raise funds for heart patients to undergo free heart surgery at the cardiothoracic centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The annual fund raising concert dubbed ‘The Kwabena Kwabena Save a Heart Fund Raising Musical Concert’, which was first held in 2013 and features colleague musicians, raised $8,000 and enabled six people to undergo free heart surgeries last year.

In an interview with Starr FM in Accra, Kwabena Kwabena said they are working to ensure that this year’s event would be more successful than it was in the previous year.

‘Though we couldn’t achieve our target, we were able to save six lives. I say it’s a big encouragement, so we are praying that we build on it this year to actually do more.’

The concert, which would be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at La Palm Beach Hotel, is expected to raise funds to cater for 20 heart patients, who have been on the hospital’s waiting list for three to five years.

‘We are going to give you a wonderful concert, my friends and I. Every musician who hears about this wants to perform and it tells you how these guys have the zeal to perform. It’s going to be a host of musicians on the night and it’s going to be a fantastic night.’
