Banking Professional Takes Over As CEO For YES Fund Replacing Sacked Kojo Adu Asare

A former Corporate Affairs Manager at the First Atlantic Bank, Helga Boadi has been appointed as the new Chief Executive for newly established Youth Enterprise Support fund. This follows the dismissal of today’s dismissal of the embattled former Member of Parliament for Adenta, Kojo Adu Asare.

Mr Adu Asare until his appointment barely two months ago, was head of the Committee that supervised Ghana’s shambolic organization which in part led to the playing body’s poor performance at the Brazil 2014 World Cup tournament last June.

This led to calls on him to resign as head of the Secretariat of the Government of Ghana programme initiated by President John Dramani Mahama with a ten million Ghana cedis seed fund to assist young Ghanaians with creative and innovative business ideas and plans to become entrepreneurs.

Founder and President of Policy Think Tank IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe who first made this call in an interview with Accra based Citi FM said the former MP couldn’t be trusted with the YES fund.

“If the gentleman who …had a simple objective of attracting corporate funds and using it for something else will be the same gentleman that will go and sit clearly on this YES fund, I think it borders on issues of integrity. I will advise him to resign from the YES thing immediately,” he said.

It is unclear if his removal is in connection with the controversies that dogged the country’s abysmal performance at the World Cup.

Disclosing the termination of his appointment on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga fell short of assigning any official reasons for his removal.

“Miss Helga Boadi is the new head of YES ….. All I can tell you is that Miss Helga Boadi is in charge of YES now,” he told host, Kojo Yankson.

Little is known politically of Helga Boadi who until her appointment was Corporate Affairs manager at First Atlantic Bank after a stint as a former Country Manager at Fasyl Technology Ghana Limited. She holds a Master’s Degree in Project Management from the University of Salford, Manchester, UK.
