In spite of calls on Sports journalists to boycott the press conference planned to be addressed by the family of Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan; the journalists filled the venue to capacity.

The Managing Director of Graphic Communications Group, Kenneth Ashigbey is one person who called on journalists to shun the Gyans press conference. The Graphic boss on his Facebook page on Tuesday wrote, “I will urge all journalists to boycott this press conference. People who assault journalists want us to cover them.”

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) also called on its members to boycott the scheduled media discourse organized by the Gyan family.

Daniel Kenu, a Graphic reporter in Kumasi was allegedly assaulted by the big brother of Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan when Ghana played its first AFCON 2015 qualifier in Kuamsi.
