Why Nigerian Actors Go Into Politics – Zulu Okafor Reveals

In recent times, there’s been an increase in the number of Nigerian entertainers going into politics and some have already declared their intention to run for various posts under different political parties.

In an interview with NAN, the President, Association of Movie Producers in Nigeria, Mr Zulu Okafor revealed the reason why actors are delving into politics.

According to him, some stakeholders in the Nollywood industry are of the opinion that Nigerian actors are going into politics for the gain, power and the passion to bring about change and stability to the country.

Mr Zulu explained that actors have played various roles in movies that depict the realities of life and are therefore the best people among politicians.

Okafor, a Nigeria Media Merit Award winner cited actors in the Western World like Ronald Regean and George Murphy who had made progress as actors and politicians.

He stated that politics could be used to reach height of power and achievement and should therefore not be restricted to any career.

He said that he will also join politics, whether House of Representatives, Senate or even governorship position because he wants to impact the lives of people, adding that Nollywood actor Richard Mofe Damijo, also called RMD is not doing bad in politics.

More and more Nigerian entertainers are joining politics which may have come as a surprise to many.
