ABII NATIONAL,an indigenous savings & loans company, has announced
that it is working feverishly to attain a universal banking status by 2017.
The savings and loans company, which started in September 2011, was given a provisional licence in February 2013 followed by a full licence in September 2013 by the Central Bank.
‘By end of year, we were able to record a total of GH â‚µ3.9 million in deposits,’ Godfried Osei-Boakye, Managing Director of Abii National disclosed this to senior journalists in Accra recently.
He added that currently, the com-pany has six branches at Avenor, Abossey Okai, Darkuman Kokompe, Mallam Atta and Adum.
He said very soon it would launchanother branch at Takoradi.
‘With a current deposit position of GH â‚µ17.4 million, Abii National is going to do exploits across the borders of Ghana. Abii National was delivered by Tobinco. Our drive to be a universal bank has been the propelling factor in our already shining performance.’
With numerous products on sale to prospective customers, Abii National intends to be the most desired indigenous bank.
Every branch of the bank is fitted with a state-of-the-art ATM machines.
‘We are also going to use mobile phones in addition to point of sales (PoS) devices. By the close of year, we intend to introduce a platform where a customer can make a transaction to a customer on another platform.’
Abii National started business with a stated capital of GHâ‚µ7 million. A year later, it can now boast of GHâ‚µ10 million.
‘By close of year, we are targeting GHâ‚µ15 million. Additionally, we will activate internet banking by close of year, as well as work hand in hand with GhIPSS to come out with the e-Zwich PoS system.
