Namoale’s Men Shot Down

Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, Nii Amasah-Namoale, reportedly sneaked out of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) elections in the constituency last Sunday -even before the official results were announced – when it became evident that none of the candidates he purportedly sponsored had been given the mandate for the positions they were eyeing.

The MP, in an apparent move to save his face, left the venue just after the results had been counted and word went round that a particular set of candidates had won all the constituency executive positions.

Prior to the elections, it became an open secret that the candidates were split into two factions, with one owing alle-giance to the former MP for the area,

Sylvester Mensah and the other being oiled by the incumbent MP, Nii Amasah-Namoale.

The campaign, though an intraparty one for the constituency, was a rather tensed one in which a section of the Electoral College was said to have been induced with cartons of frozen fish.

The incumbent MP was also reported to have accused his predecessor of encouraging candidates to vote against him.

DAILY GUIDE has heard an audio recording in which the MP (Namoale), was accusing Sylvester Mensah of being a ‘fox’ and working to get his men to occupy executive positions in the constituency.

Some of the content of the said audio tape are unpleasant to an extent that they cannot be repeated even in the form of a news report.

The team of candidates reported to have been sponsored by the former MP won handsomely right from the position of Constituency Chairman, Vice Chair, Secretary, Organiser and the rest.

While the MP was reported to have heavily pushed Abraham Oko Kotey for the position of chairman, he was floored by Alhaji Ismaila Obodai, publicly known to be a loyalist of Sylvester Mensah.

For the position of Constituency Secretary, Rex Katenor also floored Nii Armah

Ashitey, said to have been on the list of candidates pushed by Namoale.

The candidate for Organiser, Andrews, also lost to Jake Adjei Kwei – pushed by the former MP.

Nii Amasah-Namoale is on record as the longest serving MP for the constituency, having won the seat thrice in a row with the support of the NDC.

He however, started to encounter intra-party challenges with his chances of being put forward as the candidate for the fourth time facing major threats after he attempted to push his personal secretary, Rita Odoley Sowah, for the position of a Municipal Chief Executive for the newly created La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly in Accra.

The constituents believed she was not qualified for the job and accused the two of having an erotic relationship.

But Namoale insisted the lady was not his lover and that she was fully qualified for the job.

‘Rita is not my lover. When you are working with a female and people want to destroy her, they start to say you are flirting with her. If she was my lover, I would beat my chest and say she is my lover.

But she is not my lover. I worked with her and she did a lot of work in my office. She has worked so much and so well. She is behind my performance in Dadekotopon. She writes my letters and when I give scholarships, she monitors and follows them for the receipts. She is monitoring my projects and my common fund,’ Namoale told Peace FM when the issue popped up.
