Upper West Youth Organisers Support Nana Akufo-Addo

The Upper West Regional Youth wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is by this open declaration renewing its trust in the spirit of competition which is an essential feature of any thriving democracy.

In so doing, we wish to commend the three (3) gallant and distinguished gentlemen of the New Patriotic Party (N.P.P) who after scaling through the special delegates conference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) held on August 31, 2014 have gone a step further to contest the upcoming presidential primaries of the Party slated for October 18, 2014.

Again, we wish to extend special congratulatory message to the entire leadership of the New Patriotic Party across the Regions and most importantly the National level for ensuring an incident free, fair and transparent special ‘super’ delegates’ congress across the entire country. By this smooth running of the congress the NPP once again lived up to its billing as the pacesetters of democracy in Ghana.

It is important to note that in recognising the fact that competition is essential in eschewing mediocrity, we are quick to also recognise the fact that the right to freedom of choice is equally fundamental in any thriving democracy. In this vain an overwhelming majority of youth in the Upper West Region spanning from the polling stations, across electoral areas, constituencies to the Regional level unreservedly and unconditional identify ourselves with the sentiments expressed by the over eighty percent (80.81%) of party stalwarts across the country on August 31, 2014.

The Upper West Region presented an “indiscriminate” 100% assurance to the party of the undoubted suitability of Nana Addo’s candidature. We the youth of the region hereby assure the great elephant family of a repetition of the August 31 event by securing total support for Nana Addo. We also wish to reiterate that the delegates of the special conference made their independent decisions in consultation with party grassroots and demonstrated the will of the people they lead.

Thus, contrary to allusions that delegates herein were gagged and forced to vote for a particular candidate is neither here nor there. Delegates of the special conference are decisive and resolute leaders of the party at various levels therefore could not have been forced into doing what is against their will.

The Upper West Regional Youth wing cannot be wrong in endorsing the candidature of a man whose popularity as evidenced in the special delegate’s congress is not in any shred of doubt.

As N.P.P youth and the hardest hit of the clueless, insensitive and incompetent leadership of the John Mahama led administration, the New Patriotic Party cannot afford to gamble with our future and that of the millions of Ghanaians who are looking up to the party for redemption from the current socio-economic hardship brought about by the National Democratic Congress (N.D.C.) by presenting an entirely new candidate to the electorate. Time is of essence and time is definitely not on the side of the New Patriotic Party for an experiment in a crucial election such as election 2016.

Accordingly, we make a passionate appeal especially to our colleague youth in the other regions to reason with us and work side by side to retain the peace loving, incorruptible and already well marketed Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who at present needs no introduction to the Ghanaian voter.

We are for Nana Addo.

Signed
