‘Bastiat Director Not Fraudster’

Lawyers of Dr. Tweneboah Senzu, Managing Director of Bastiat Society Ghana, an economic think tank, have debunked reports in the media that their client was arrested for defrauding one Seth Ohene to the tune of GH₵22,516.

According to them, the reports were deliberately published by the conspirators to dent the image of the MD of Bastiat Ghana.

It was reported in sections of the media that Dr. Senzu had allegedly defrauded Seth Ohene, Manager of Janeseth Agro Chemicals of GH₵22,516 in a cocoa fertilizer deal in 2012.

They claimed that he was arrested while on his way to Western region to train the newly-employed staff of Bastiat Ghana.

According to the reports, the case was taken to court in July 2013, but the suspect failed to appear before it, compelling the court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.

A five-member team of lawyers, including Raymond Akapastis and Baffour Dwuma, legal consultant, in a statement, denied the allegations and dared those behind the story to identify themselves.

The lawyers said per their findings no fraudulent case was brought against Dr. Senzu before the Takoradi Circuit Court A as alleged in the media.

They cautioned the perpetrators to prepare to face the full rigors of the law.

According to the statement, there was conflict between Dr. Senzu and some past executive members of the chamber of commerce of Sekondi-Takoradi.

The conflict started when Dr. Senzu challenged them in relation to abuse of power during their tenure at the chamber of commerce.

This, it said, led to the enmity between the parties.
