Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kyerematen is set to begin a nationwide tour after he launched his campaign yesterday at Lapaz, a suburb of Accra.
Spokesperson for Mr Kyeremanten, Nana Ohene Ntow told Joynews’ Fransisca Kakra Forson that the tour will start early this week but a programme line-up will be announced in due course.
According to Mr Ntow, the launch was successful despite efforts by some unknown persons to mar the programme.
“Yesterday we had reports from certain constituencies that when the invitation went out, certain people made efforts to stop them from coming by telephone calls and text messages but they defied it and attended in their numbers”.
He was, however, unable to name the persons he alleged had intentions of ruining the launch.
He said the massive attendance of some grassroots executives, electoral area coordinators, polling station executives and some constituency executives is an indication Alan can cause an upset in the party’s delegates’ congress in October.
The spokesperson said the NPP needs a man like Alan Kyerematen who will bring new life, new enthusiasm and new attraction to the presidential ticket of the party.
Mr Kyerematen is vying for flagbearership alongside the party’s two-time presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo and Ashanti Mampong MP, Francis Addai-Nimoh.
