‘Car Boot’ Robbers Nabbed

The suspects
Two robbers, who employed a rather unconventional way to rob their victim, have been arrested by the Accra regional police command. The suspects, Agbanyo Dodzie, 30 and Victor Sablah, 31, were said to have robbed a waitress at Teshie in Accra.

Briefing the media at a news conference in Accra yesterday, DCOP Christian Tetteh yohuno, the Accra Regional Police Commander, said at about 11:30pm on August 26, 2014, Sablah, who was the driver of a KIA Spectra taxi cab with registration number GW 6243-13, drove to town to carry out his taxi business. Interestingly, Agbanyo, his accomplice, was made to hide in the boot of the car so that they could rob passengers who boarded Victor’s taxi cab.

DCOP Tetteh said when Sablah got to Osu, the complainant (name withheld), who is a waitress and had closed from work, hired the taxi cab to her house at Teshie.

He disclosed that on reaching a quiet place at Teshie, the taxi driver stopped and Agbanyo came out of the boot with a knife and the two robbed the complainant of her two Samsung mobile phones, GH¢205 and a purse containing some complimentary cards.

The Accra Regional Police Commander said the complainant reported the case to the Osu police and through intelligence, the two suspects were arrested.

He further indicated that on September 5, 2014, Agbanyo and Sablah were arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Francis Obiri, and have been remanded to reappear on September 18.
