Cabinet approves €26 million for four health projects

Cabinet has approved €26 million for the construction of two district hospitals in the Western Region.

The agreement has therefore been forwarded to Parliament for consideration.

The €26 million facility will support the construction of two hospitals at Akontombra and Elubo in the Western Region and a polyclinic at Bogosu as well as the upgrading of an existing polyclinic at Mpohor.

“This is just another demonstration of President John Mahama’s commitment to expand access to quality healthcare delivery across the country by bridging the gap in service delivery through the provision of additional health infrastructure among others,” Communications Minister, Edward Omane Boamah said.

He said two health facilities would be constructed at Nsuaem and Wassa Dunkwa all in the region.

Dr Boamah revealed that in the long term, the €26 million project will reduce mortality rates, especially child mortality, in the districts and the region as a whole.
