Police Foil Robbery Attack

Police patrol team in Community 2, Tema foiled a robbery attack in Community 3, Tema on Monday dawn.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) olivia Turkson, Public relations officer (Pro) of Tema Police Command told DAILY GUIDE that the suspects attempted to attack occupants of a house near that of the late footballer, Shamo Quaye.

He said that the two suspected robbers, who wielded a locally-made pistol and other dangerous weapons, attempted to forcibly enter the house at about 1am.

While the suspects were trying to enter the house, a victim in the house shouted which attracted the attention of neighbours, one of whom immediately dialled the police emergency number for help.

The Pro of the police said the patrol team at Community 2, Tema responded instantly to the distress call.

According to reports, two persons, on board a Hyundai Excel taxi cab with registration number GR 1596 R, went to the said residence.

ASP Turkson noted that on hearing the sound of the siren of the police, the hoodlums sped off in the taxi cab.

According to her, ‘The Police later saw the tax cab with its occupants around Community 2 Allied oil Filling Station and signaled them to stop

but the occupants stopped and took to their heels.’

She said however that the officers recovered all the weapons, four car batteries and one car stereo tape, which police suspect might have been stolen from cars parked along the streets at Communities 2 and 3.

According to the police, investigation had commenced to apprehend the criminals.

The car, the police Pro said, had been impounded, adding that efforts were being made to trace the owner of the taxi cab, one Isaac Quashie of Tema Newtown to help trace the suspects.
