AMA rapid response team suspended for extortion

Some team members of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s Rapid Response Unit have been suspended for alleged extortion from traders.

As part of efforts to bring sanity in the unit, the affected persons have been asked to reapply.

Spokesperson for the Assembly Members, Isaac Asah said at a forum that “we are fully in support of the Mayor to suspend the task force for allegations of extortion.”

It was alleged at a meeting with traders at the CMB market that some task force members took Ghȼ3 from the traders to allow them hawk on the streets.
