Lawyer Asks Journalists To Boycott AMA Activities

Private Legal Practitioner, Dr. Maurice Ampaw, in outright conniption has described a charge against Three journalists by the police yesterday as “bogus” and “illegal”.

He is therefore calling journalists to deliberately withdraw or abstain from dealing with the activities of Accra Metropolitan Assembly, AMA.

The learned lawyer spoke to ‘Fire Woman’ on Agoo East.

Accra Mayor, Alfred Okoi Vanderpuije caused the police to arrest some journalists who had gone to Mensah Guinea a suburb in the Capital city where displaced residents had been left helpless sleeping in the open after the AMA demolition exercise on friday September, 5. The journalists was later charged for “offensive conduct”

Against this backdrop, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw in a fit of hysterical anger described the Mayor as cynical who is “more interested in the NDC government than the people” and as such, he should be given “media blackout” and sue for unlawful arrest.

He expressed worried and shocked about the current deluge of lawlessness at which government officials operates especially in dealing with those they perceived to be antagonists of government of the day.

He fumed “These illegal acts by the Mayor is to instill fears in journalists in exercising their duties but I charged you to resists oppressors rule”
