Construction Workers busy at Work
Work on the ultra modern three-storey Aburiman palace annex being constructed at Aburi in the Eastern Region is progressing steadily as the structure has taken shape, winning the admiration of all residents.
The structure, sited directly opposite the existing palace is being funded by the Aburimanhene, Otoobour Gyan Kwesi.
During the recent celebration of Awukudae which was held at Nsakye and Aburi palaces, Otoobour Gyan Kwesi told the DAILY GUIDE that Nsakyi is the ancestral home of the people where the chief and his entourage visit on special days to consult the gods, while Aburi palaces serve as the main palace.
Otoobour Gyan Kwesi continued that access from the palace annex to the existing one would be linked by an overhead bridge within the shortest possible time.
The Aburimanhene who is also the Adontenhene of Akuapem said the ground floor of the building is expected to be completed for use at the 2014 Odwira festival next month.
He also added that the time has come for chieftaincy to take on a higher value and make it an institution of pride.
The Aburimanhene continued that the beautification of the palace has become a matter of relevance to the traditional council because of the number of guests who regularly come there to transact businesses with the council.
The celebration of Awukudae Kese is a prelude to the celebration of Odwira which falls on October 8, 2014.
The chiefs and people of Aburiman during such an event impose a six week ban on noise making and performance of any public event which would lead to the creation of any form of noise.
The Aburimanhene, however, on the occasion of Awukudae Kese allows a two week grace period to enable bereaved families who wish to bury their dead to do so.
