Delegates Still Want Me – Alan Kyerematen

Alan Kyerematen
A flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kyerematen has said his inclusion in the top five candidates to battle for the flagbearership slot, is an indication that the delegates still believe he is capable of leading the NPP in 2016.

Kyeremanten in a statement expressed his appreciation to delegates who voted for him in Sunday’s special congress and appealed for unflinching support on October 18.

‘Let me express my appreciation to the entire party and particularly the delegates who ensured that I was included in the list of five contestants for the final primary.’

By this action, I have a clear indication that the NPP fraternity believes l am capable of leading our party to victory in the 2016 elections,’ he said.

He assured party delegates ‘I will do all within my power, and by the Grace of the Almighty God, not to let them down.’

Kyeremanten made it to the final five who will contest the flagbearership position of the party.

Mr. Kyeremanten who is considered the closest contender to Nana Akufo-Addo, the two-time presidential candidate of the party only managed 8.01% of the total valid votes cast.

Nana Addo on the other hand  polled 81%   of the total valid votes cast.

One of the top five aspirants,  Joe Ghartey has pulled out of the race   and there have been calls for the remaining three to do same in order to allow Nana Addo to run alone.

But the  party leadership has kicked against  these suggestions.

Last Sunday, 31st August 2014, The New Patriotic Party (NPP), once again demonstrated that we are the pacesetters in Ghana’s democratic dispensation, when we held our special delegates elections to prune down the number of candidates for the flagbearer position from seven to five.

Let me express my appreciation to the entire party and particularly the delegates who ensured that I was included in the list of five contestants for the final primary.

By this action, I have a clear indication that the NPP fraternity believes l am capable of leading our party to victory in the 2016 elections.

I take this charge very seriously and assure our party members that I will do all within my power, and by the Grace of the Almighty God, not to let them down.

I congratulate all aspirants who took part in Sunday’s special election, both those who have been included in the five and the two who were not included.

Going forward, the surest way for our party to win power is to foster genuine unity and peace within the party.

Ahead of the October 18th primary, I reaffirm my resolve to provide a leadership that will provide the drive for a strong, united and peaceful party for victory in 2016.

As we enter the next stage of the process that will lead to the final selection of one presidential candidate, I ask all our party faithful for their continued and unflinching support, as we march for victory in 2016.

God Bless us all,

Thank You
……Signed……
Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen
