Police begin investigation into Kotobabi shooting incident that claimed one life

The Police administration has begun investigations into a shoot-to-kill incident at Kotobabi, a suburb of Accra.

Although Kotobabi police had insisted the personnel who shot and murdered a suspected armed robber, Hakeem Abubakar at Kotobabi, early this month acted professionally, the deceased’s father says that is not the case.

Hakeem, 18, was shot in the head while on a motorbike. He and another colleague were suspected to have engaged in a robbery incident before his death.

But the police justified the incident, saying, the deceased rather engaged the personnel in a shoot out, which suddenly led to his death.

Father of the deceased, Abubakar Saliu is therefore seeking justice for his son’s death.

Greater Accra Police Public Relations Officer ASP Afia Tenge told Joy News the case was being investigated by the Police Intelligence and Professional Standards Bureau ((PIPS).
