The organisers of Miss Malaika beauty pageant, Charter House, have announced that GH-One TV will on August 24 air the Miss Malaika audition series which was held at the GH-One studios in Accra.

The Miss Malaika audition series attracted hundreds of beautiful young ladies from various parts of the country, who showed up for a shot at what has now become Ghana’s most valued beauty reality TV show.

The pageant is produced as a 13-week reality show, which shows the search for a Ghanaian representative for the Miss Malaika continental competition. It was the first beauty pageant show to be aired as a reality series in Ghana.

From the conception of the Miss Malaika beauty pageant, it has been presented to the audience as a  reality TV  show, which allows for the viewers to vote for their favourite contestant to be crowned Miss Malaika Ghana.

Each week, the contestants are given tasks to perform which range from performances to organising events.

According to the organisers, 16 ladies would eventually emerge out of the process to compete in the nearly 13 weeks of intensive competition. Watching the ladies eagerly join the audition train, one wonders why so many young ladies find the Miss Malaika pageant an excellent avenue to explore their potentials.

It has been observed that the Malaika contest acts as a finishing school for many of these young ladies who enter the competition. The weekly tasks and the activities planned around the pageant especially the international tourism opportunity has certainly acted as a pull factor for the many beautiful young women. The Miss Malaika pageant is still the only pageant in Ghana that sends the 10 finalists on an exciting international trip.

The pageant, in its 12th year, has seen the crowning of some of the most brilliant ladies as queens including Hamamat Montia, Laurie Naa Lamle Lawson, Dr Tamara Aku Dzormeku, Ama Nettey, Jeraldine Parttinton and the current reigning queen, Naa Oyo Quartey.
