Accra, Aug. 19, GNA – Officials of the Meridian Pre-University in Accra, an accredited pre-tertiary institution, has denied media reports that the school has been closed down.
Addressing a news conference in Accra on Monday, Mr Tetteh Nettey, President of the Meridian Pre-University and Marshall College, said the Meridian University College that was reported to have been closed down at Kasoa on the Bawjiase road has no relationship with the Meridian Pre-University.
He said, Meridian Pre-University was established in August 2007 and duly accredited by the Ghana Education Service and the West African Examination Council as a pre tertiary institution and is located at Odorkor, a suburb of Accra.
‘Meridian Pre-University has never had, do not have and do not intend to have any relationship whatsoever with Meridian University College that has reportedly been closed down at Kasoa on the Bawjiase road. Meridian Pre-University, High Point Academy and Marshalls College are all located at Odorkor in Accra and not Kasoa,’ he said.
Mr Nettey disclosed that Meridian Pre-University is a strong and viable member of the Meridian-Marshalls Holdings Limited, an umbrella body comprising High Point Academy, Meridian Pre-University and Marshalls College which would very soon be listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange under the listing name of Meridian-Marshalls holdings.
‘The Board of Directors of Meridian Pre-University and Marshalls would like to assure our past, current and potential students, as well as our accrediting and affiliation bodies, including our shareholders that we have not closed down and we are still in operation by offering a full spectrum of education from pre-tertiary to tertiary,’ he said.
He said the institution has introduced new programmes for the 2014/2015 academic year and urged prospective students to enroll.
