I don’t like Alan as president – Amoako Tuffour

Member of the National Executive Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Amoako Tufour says Alan Kyeremanteng would always play second fiddle to Nana Akufo-Addo as the party goes in search for a flagbearer.

Speaking on Adom FM’s ‘Dwaso Nsem” Dr. Tuffour said “I don’t like Alan because I feel that as it is now we have a much better candidate who will save the country from the current economic crisis”.

He said that even though he has nothing against Alan or the other candidates he is assured that Nana Addo has proven beyond all doubt that he is willing and capable of leading the party to victory in the 2016 general elections.

Most people have questioned Nana Addo’s desire to contest the flagbearership position of the NPP after being unable to win power for the party on two consecutive occasions.

Others have also said Akufo-Addo’s age has put him at a disadvantaged position and that he should allow others who have not had the opportunity to rather contest.

However Dr Tuffour said Nana Addo’s ability to withstand all that happened before, during and after the 2012 general elections is a testimony of his commitment and willingness to serve with all his might.

He said due to Nana Addo’s love for the country he set aside his time and effort to ensure that law and order is strictly adhered to in the country.

This he says gives him the conviction that Akufo-Addo is in a better position to lead the party and the country better than Alan.

Answering questions on the current behavior of the General Secretary of the NPP Kwabena Agyapong, Dr. Tuffour said the actions of the General Secretary were inappropriate.

He said as long as Mr. Agyapong continues to lead the party, matters of such nature should be discussed with the appropriate authorities for necessary actions to be taken and not for him to take issues into his own hands.

However Dr. Tuffour disagreed with assertions that the General Secretary be fired from his position saying that like a child Mr. Agyapong should rather be nurtured and not dismissed when he makes a mistake.
